STUST offers undergraduate scholarships in Taiwan

On January 22, 2019, Dr. Aaron A. See of the Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology (STUST) visited University of Science and Technology of the Southern Philippines (USTP) Cagayan de Oro. Dr. See is an Assitant Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering at STUST, an established university in Tainan, Taiwan which emphasizes industry and academia cooperation using a real world curriculum.

His visit began with an introduction to STUST’s scholarship opportunities for undergraduate students. Senior high school students of USTP Cagayan de Oro, together with their parents, were able to learn about the student life and environment in STUST, as well as what to expect if they were to complete their undergraduate studies in Taiwan. STUST offers undergraduate scholarships for USTP CDO students with fifty percent (50%) of the tuition fees waived.

In the afternoon, all USTP Cagayan de Oro faculty were invited to attend Dr. See’s lecture on problem – based learning. He emphasized the importance of allowing students to put their learnings into practice, while giving examples of his own teaching strategies at STUST. Instructors were able to ask questions during the open forum. Dr. See’s visit was also an opportunity for CEA faculty and officials to discuss possible research collaborations with USTP CDO and STUST.
