BANTUGAN AWARDS: THE SEARCH FOR USTP OUTSTANDING ALUMNI

I. About the Awards

The Bantugan Awards is the premier search that recognizes the University’s alumnus and alumnae who have made significant contributions to society, and whose accomplishments, affiliations, and careers have honored the legacy of excellence of the University and contributed significant impact to the society. It also further illustrates the great value of the academic programs and student involvement at University of Science and Technology in Southern Philippines and increases the pride of all alumni, students, staff and faculty.
The awards will focus on recognizing the alumni who demonstrate exemplary contribution in the field of Education, Government Service, Community Engagement/Social Work, Entrepreneurship, and Research, Development and Innovation. A special USTP Young Alumni Excellence Award will recognize an alumnus or alumna for an exceptional professional accomplishment. Other special awards include excellence award in Arts, Culture and Fashion Industry.

The awarding ceremony will be on February 2, 2018.

Descriptions
USTP Alumni Bantugan Award for Excellence in Education

The award is given to exemplary alumni member who have contributed to field of education through innovative educational pedagogy, introduction of teaching methods or course materials recognized as having impact. Contribution to the design of the Philippine educational curriculum, its legislation and implementation is also considered.

USTP Alumni Bantugan Award for Excellence in Community Engagement

This is awarded to any individual who create and maintain opportunities for collaboration and engagement with the community preferably the disenfranchised and marginalized sectors of society that have a positive social, civic, cultural, or environmental impact, and promote the values of human dignity, equity, diversity and inclusion. Specifically, the person has initiated a project in the community, in his/her own capacity or through his/her affiliations, which significantly uplift the lives of the people he/she serves.

USTP Alumni Bantugan Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship

The award is given to exemplary alumni member who have a successful business that demonstrate profitability, significant growth and long-term potential. The entrepreneur has exemplary ability to overcome adversity. He/she provides inspiration to younger entrepreneurs by examples of risk-taking, community mindedness and success. Also, the entrepreneur is a figure in community through charity or leadership roles.

USTP Alumni Bantugan Award for Excellence in Research, Development and Innovation

The award is given to exemplary alumni member who have challenged the status quo with new solutions and applied new ways with recognized positive impact to society. These solutions is his/her own output in the form of new systems, technologies, products, programs, policies, and discoveries.

USTP Alumni Bantugan Award for Excellence in Government Service

The award is given to exemplary alumni member who have serves the government as a politician or an employee or official of any government-owned corporations, government agencies, local government units. His/her service had created an outstanding output or service to the clients. The person has a proven competence and integrity of his/her profession.

Special Awards
USTP Alumni Bantugan Special Award for Excellence in Arts and Culture

The award is conferred upon an alumnus/alumna who exemplifies excellence on the field of arts and culture. This considers the alumni who excel in story writing, theatre, music, contemporary/folklore dance, design, photography, hand arts such as painting, drawing, tattooing, and sculpting. He/she contributed to the promotion of any of these talents which gained greater appreciation from the public.

USTP Bantugan Young Alumni Excellence Award

The USTP Young Alumni Excellence Award is conferred upon an alumnus/alumna who exemplifies excellence on the field of his/her interest at age below 30 years old. The recipient has attained prominence through his/her exceptional performance whose work have inspired and motivated young people to pursue excellence. He/she have become a model among the youth.

III. General Qualifications

• Must have completed his/her secondary, technical-vocational, tertiary and/or graduate education in all existing and former USTP campuses.
• The nomination is based on contribution, achievements or impact in the field of Education, Government Service, Community Engagement, Entrepreneurship, and Research, Development and Innovation through which the person is connected.
• The contribution/achievement must have been performed/implemented after the person has graduated from the institution.
• Retirees are eligible for nomination.
• Has no pending or must have not convicted to an administrative, civil or criminal case.

IV. Nomination Process

Nominators

Nominations can be from the following:
1.) Deans, Directors, Faculty Members, Staff
2.) Students and Alumni Members
3.) USTP Recognized Student Organizations
4.) Recognized USTP CDO Alumni Chapters
5.) Recognized Professional Organizations
6.) Registered Non-Government Organizations
7.) Private and Public Institutions, Corporations/Companies

Ineligibility

The following are not allowed to be nominated:
1.) The incumbent officers and members of the Alumni Board of Directors of the USTP CDO, Panaon, Jasaan and Claveria including the members of their immediate families such as their parents, siblings, spouse and children
2.) Members of USTP Board of Regents and Key Officials of the University (President, Vice-Presidents, Chancellors, Vice-Chancellors)
3.) Members of the Screening Committee, Board of Judges and Validators of this Awards

Submission of Nomination
1.) Nominator must submit an original hard copy or an electronic copy which contains the following:

a.Duly Accomplished Nomination Form (form provided)
b.(Optional) Other available documents at nominator hand that may help in assessing the nominee

2.) Submission of nomination can be made through mail or email.
